Pink or Blue?

After my last doctors appointment on December 11th, I was determined to find out the gender of our baby - I really wanted to know for Christmas. Today Denin and I went to Fetal Foto in hopes of finding out what we were having, since our last ultrasound was still merely a guess, today it became certain - IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited and anxious, I have 2 boys, I know what boys like, what they do, how they act, but a girl...

She did give us a thumbs up sign as her first picture
(I have no idea what the rest of the picture is!)

All I want for Christmas...

Have you ever tried to limit a 3 year old and a 5 year old to one thing to ask Santa for?! Kole was easy, he would always say he wanted a Constructicon Decepticon from Transformers 2, Kamden on the other hand was a different story! Kamden would usually rattle off Handy Manny Motorcycle, a camera, Wolverine Truck, and occasionally Iron Man - but anything he saw on TV, he wanted, and said he was going to ask Santa for! It made me crazy, do you realize how many commercials for toys are on this time of year????

We took the boys to Christmas Village - they got to look at Christmas lights and see Santa all in one stop! Kole was predictable, and asked Santa for his Transformer, Kamden was scared of Santa... Daddy sat on Santa's lap, and Kam sat on Daddy's lap, but he shyly admitted to Santa he wanted a truck. When Santa inquired what kind of truck, he said a Wolverine Truck. I can't believe we got him to talk to Santa!

Catching up

I'm a little behind - I got my blog changed over to Thanksgiving but that was the extent of it. After the boys go to bed, it's bedtime for me - I'm a sad individual thanks to this little cinnamon bear (as my doctor called it today) growing inside of me!

Before the boys' went trick-or-treating, they carved pumpkins with their dad. Both of them drew their own faces and Denin carved them - I think they did a great job and they were very proud of their pumpkins!

The boys had a great Halloween. Both were Buzz Lightyear, inspired by our trip to Disneyland in September. Their costumes were awesome - complete with Space Blasters from Disneyland, they were too cute!
Kole really got into trick-or-treating this year, he was in it for the candy! Kamden wasn't so thrilled! He made it up the street, but on the way back down he was done - he didn't want to knock on any more doors or get anymore candy, I had to call Denin and have him run up the street to get Kam so Kole and I could continue our quest for candy! In a couple of years those two will be running from house to house!

Surprise!

Things happen for a reason...

Those words are words to live by - some times those "things" are insignificant, other times "things" are life changing...

For the last year we have debated if we should have a 3rd child - I always wanted 3, but after 2 terrible babies that screamed at us for months because of colic, making that decision was not easy. Of course in the back of my mind I wanted a little girl, but again the risk of another baby SCREAMING all day and night, really made me question - is it worth my sanity?! Denin and I agreed to decided next year, January, after our cruise. After all, both boys are finally relatively self-sufficient, so do we really want go back to that????
As I said in the beginning, things happen for a reason... Without trying, and completely unexpected - I'm pregnant! Wow! After the initial hysterics (me of course), and a confirmed ultrasound that there is only 1 baby, Denin and I are both happy. We are planning on another baby with colic - we are realistic, we expect this one will have colic worse than Kamden! Boy or girl, it doesn't matter - as long as it is healthy!
Meet baby #3 - coming to the Peterson household on (or before) June 5, 2010!

Pumpkins for my punkins'

On Saturday we took the boys' to J & J nursery for their hayride and to pick out pumpkins straight from the pumpkin patch. This was our 3rd year doing this and was by far the warmest and nicest day we have had picking pumpkins! We have endured freezing temperatures, rain, mud, and wind - but this year, sunny skies and only sweatshirts required!

Kole and Kamden with their pumpkins! Just the right size!
The boys' also got to go to their cousins birthday party - they got to go mini-golfing and bowling. I lost to both of them at bowling! In my defense, they cheat - they get bumpers!!!! I am much better at Wii bowling :)
Check out Kole and "form"

Kamden is a better bowler than me!!! I should demand bumpers!

We went to Disneyland!!!!

Okay, I'm slightly behind... Over two weeks ago, my parents, Denin, and I took the boys to Disneyland - they loved it! We took both boys on Splash Mountain - scared Kam, but Kole loved it! We took Kole on the Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain (scared him - he got a Buzz Lightyear for bravery), the river ride in California Adventure - he loved the roller coasters! Both boys loved the Buzz Lightyear ride in Disneyland, we rode it MANY times, and Toy Story Mania in California Adventure. One of my favorite parts were the Halloween decorations!
We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and we walked everywhere! The boys were troopers and walked most of it too! We had to give the occasional piggyback and shoulder ride, but they really did great!
Goofy scared Kamden the second day we were there, and ruined him for all characters the rest of the visit! We forced him into some pictures, others are only of Kole! The only character Kam would get by is Lightening McQueen and Mater!
We went to Goofy's kitchen one morning for breakfast - probably not the greatest idea when one of the boys was terrified of the characters, especially Goofy! I thought this was a sweet picture of Kole with a princess!
Kole also started a very strange "defense mechanism..." Any time I would scold him, he would go into this rabbit pose - it was funny at first, but then, not so much! I have no idea the reasoning behind this!
Buzz Lightyear and Woody were definitely the hit for the boys. Both got Woody "dolls," both are going to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween, and both got blasters to shoot bad guys. Kole and Kam loved carrying them through the parks! It's impossible to tell about everything we did or saw - between me and my dad, I have over 400 pictures in 5 days! So this was just a peek at our Disneyland trip. If you ask Kole what he liked most, it would be swimming at our hotel... Kids - they are so easy to please! My favorite part was getting to see the boys' expressions as they took everything in!

Goal!

Kole has been playing soccer for Clinton City, every Tuesday and Thursay night we have a game, and he loves it! Unlike t-ball, this holds his attention much better, and he is really good at it too (that could be a mom's opinion - but his Grammy thinks so too). At last nights game Kole scored his first goal, 2 of them infact! He was sooooooo excited, we couldn't get him to hold back after the first one. Here is video of him playing last night - although I said he does much better with soccer than t-ball, you will see him skip instead of run to get the ball :)

First Day of School

I can't believe Kole is old enough to be in school! Kole started kindergarten last Monday and is LOVING it! The Sunday before his first day of school Kole got sick with a stomach bug - he was so worried about not being able to go to school (I'm not sure if it was because he was excited for school, just excited to wear his new shoes, or excited about his backpack), but he made it. For the first 3 days, I had to wake him up for school, as the lack of naps, left him quite tired and cranky! By Thursday he was back to his old tricks, up by 6 - even on the weekends... Kamden switched teachers and started preschool, he just goes with the flow, but seems to like it too!

Do you think I take the boys to Kiddie Kandids too much - look at them pose!

Big Boy Room

We finally picked out the decorations for Kamden's room - Surf bum! We spent all last weekend painting his room - here's the end result.

I love this mural!

My surf bum tucked in and ready for bed!

Kole wanted me to take pictures of his room too - he was a little jealous, but his room is cool! We painted Kole's room 3 years ago when Kam was on the way. He started with a car toddler bed and got his current bed when he turned 3.

Kole's me too picture!

Catching Up

Because I am behind on posting - here is another one, and there is still one more to go, that I need to do! Maybe I need to give up the Facebook games and work and focus on something productive...

Kole started Soccer practice last week - I think he will be great at it. Granted, he's still 5, so playing with grass can be more entertaining, but he seems to love it! He has one more week of practice and then 2 months of games - some of those fall games will be cold! I can't believe summer is almost over and I'm worried about the cold it 2 months! Here is a picture of my new soccer star - check out the smile as he kicks the ball!

Speaking of the end of summer, I can't believe my oldest starts kindergarten on Monday! Where does time go? He will be going to a private kindergarten at his daycare which had curbed my "first day of school anxiety" until 1st grade - I hope! Knowing me, I will still be an emotional wreck!!!

Luvin' the Arizona Sun!

We took the family to Arizona on the 15th of this month (which was also our 12 year wedding anniversary) to see our friends Courtney and Jim, and their two boys Caden and Zane. Kole hadn't been on an airplane since he was 9 months old, and Kam had never been on a plane - but they both did great! This was a good trial vacation to prepare us for our trip to Disneyland in September -I think we will survive!
We got to be there for Caden's 3rd Birthday which was held at Peter Piper Pizza (mine and Denin's favorite place for pizza - and now the boys'). We ate there twice on this visit - a little less than usual, but I don't think Courtney and Jim love it quite as much as we do!!!!! We also got to take the kids to a store called Ridemakerz (www.Ridemakerz.com) where they were able to make their own cars (like Build-a-Bear but with cars) - all boys (their dad's included had a great time making their custom trucks).
Kamden, Caden, and Kole hamming it up for a picture!

We had a great time at their house - the boys got to swim, Kole got stung by a bee on the first day (his first bee sting, and now he is absolutely terrified of them, but he loves to tell the story), and just hang out with great friends! Thanks for putting up with us - and we left your house standing!Me & Courtney - Love ya and miss ya!

Ewwwwww

This movie clip is from the boys driving the Jeep on Sunday. I love Kole's reaction to this!

The Newest Crime Fighting Team

Kole, Kamden, and Rusty are looking for bad guys! There are a few minor problems with their search:
  1. Kamden only drives in a circle. Every once in a while he throws it in reverse, but he then resumes driving in a clockwise circle.
  2. Kole's squirt gun is empty and the plug is missing - it will never hold water
  3. I think Rusty is looking for a chance to escape - I don't think he wants any part of this!
But - I think they are having fun anyways!

I might have only been made it to a Brownie in Girl Scouts, but I can still camp!

We took the boys camping last weekend at the Sandstone (I think - maybe it's soapstone or soap on a rope) campground in the Uinta's. We went with Denin's work and had a blast! It was real camping too - we slept in a tent, used a hole in the ground with a toilet for a restroom, had a campfire, used bug spray, didn't shower, saw a moose, and a deer... So unlike me, isn't it! We were able to walk to the Provo river, which was very cold! The boys found big rocks to throw in the river on Saturday.
Me and the boys - if it looks like Kam is saying "cheese" in every picture, it is because, he is!
Here's a picture of me and Denin - standard picture format because Denin is also the photographer!
On Sunday we went back to the river - with the intent to swim. Kamden took one step in the cold river and decided a piggy back ride was better than walking.
Kole was brave enough we convinced him to join the polar bear club :) That water was soooooo cold - the kid is a fish, he's crazy!
After we got home from camping on Sunday we decided to start the cleansing process with the boys' new slip n' slide!

Did you know...

They still make cars without power locks or windows? Okay - I did know this, but hadn't thought about it in a while. My lovely company car is getting some repairs, so Walgreens sprung for a Toyota Yaris rental car (I hope you can sense the sarcasm). I swear it runs on mice under the hood! It has no power windows or power locks - it took me a moment to figure out I had to lock every door individually. Why? How? Who buys a car like this anymore? Yes, I sound a little high maintenance, but with kids, it is a major pain! Power door locks, remote lock, and window locks, were all very good (and necessary) inventions! I get to keep this lovely POS until Friday, so in the meantime, I will drive it like its a rental - I just have to remember to feed the mice :)

I know, I know, I'm a slacker!

I have been really bad at keeping up my blog - nothing really new! Boys are growing like weeds, for Kamden's 3 year old check-up he was off the charts for height, and he is only 6 pounds lighter than his big brother- they are keeping us busy! Work is busy! Walgreens is opening 3 new stores in September, and one take over in Elko, Nevada, so now I will have 1 "armpit" store in 3 states - Elko, Nevada, Vernal, Utah, and Rock Springs, Wyoming. Armpit stores you ask??? Each seems to be the armpit of their respective states - ugly city, people are inbred or white trash (maybe a little of both), there is nothing to do (okay, Elko does have casinos), and all 3 have 1 thing in common, a Wingers restaurant as their main restaurant... The closest of the 3 is 2.5 hours away, and all are difficult to get to in the winter months! I really do like my job, I'm grateful I have one, I'm just cranky today :)

The boys had a fun 4th of July - we did fireworks at my moms house with my Aunt Cheryl, my cousin Jason, and his son Kyler. The boys liked sparklers this year, still cover their ears for the noisy fireworks, and still can't get the hang of the pop things that you throw on the ground.
Kole, Kyler, and Kamden - yes, they are using glow stick to cover their ears!

We are finally going to have the rest of the basement finished - the drywaller starts tomorrow! Courtney and Jim - after 3 years, we finally have a place for you to stay that is not in one of the boys' room or in the basement family room! I will have my basement free of toys, and Denin will get a new TV (that was the deal - he gets the basement finished for me and he gets a new TV), we are all happy - for now! I am going to convert Kam's room, from his baby room to a big boy room - complete with surfer theme and twin size bed, no more baby's room :( or :) I just can't decide! I will post pictures when it is all done!

On another completly different topic, I had my follow up visit on my "dolly's" - everything is good, and where they are supposed to be ;o) Thanks Katie for your advice/referral! No pictures for that coming - this is a family show!!!

Three At Last!

3 years ago a little boy was swaddled so tight in a blanket the nurse said he looked like a peanut... Kamden Jared Peterson was born, 7 pounds 13 ounces - and now that little peanut is three, I can't believe it! Here's a look at how he has changed over the last three years.

Happy Birthday Peanut!

Almost Three!

I can't believe Kamden turns 3 tomorrow! He's my baby, my little peanut! I like to tease the boys that it is my birthday instead of theirs - here's a clip of my conversation with Kam (It's short - the camera battery died on me). I will post more tomorrow for the birthday boy!

Calgon, take me away!

It amazes me how different 2 children can be...

Both Kole and Kamden are rambunctious, energetic, destructive boys. They both love cars, playing outside, super heroes - just playing in general, they both are good kids, full of curiosity, challenging at times, funny, but they have very different personalities! Kole is very much Denin, but repeats everything I say! Kole is gentle, caring, tender hearted, out going, timid at first but then daring, not real "lovey" (my mom blames me - says I was just like that), he is the negotiator, loves the color orange, likes soda, prefers fruits over veggies, prefers cheeze-its over gold fish, eats non stop, is tall and skinny, and left handed! Kamden looks angelic and has an infectious personality, although still young, I believe he is going to be the mean/feisty one (don't know where he could possibly get that...), a tender heart too, shy (at first), he does not like anyone bossing him around (I don't know how my times I'm told by him "you not the boss" as he moves his neck back and forth and closes his eyes), timid thus far, more "lovey" than Kole, likes veggies over fruit, dislikes soda, prefers gold fish over cheeze-its, really isn't a big snacker, is tall but solid, and most likely a righty. I remember having many trying days with Kole during his 2-3 year old time span, Kamden, not so much until recently, but the worst was tonight. Kamden went from happy boy to screaming and crying so hard he was gagging - I had never seen him like this before, over taking a shower - that he wanted to take! I can remember Kole being so mad, it seemed like the harder I tried to calm him, the more hysterical he became - just like me, Kamden has never been like that. Kam went to the Zoo today for a field trip with daycare and then we had t-ball tonight, so with all of that activity he was exhausted, but I wasn't sure if I should bathe him or have him exorcised! One-and-a-half weeks until Kamden turns 3, and now the terrible two's are rearing their ugly head!

In case you are wondering - yes, I have my new "accessories," or "Dolly's" as my mom started calling them (you know, like Dolly Parton). No they are not Dolly Parton size! Everything went well, I slept from Friday until about mid-Sunday - I slept so much the white of my eyes were white (as opposed to the standard blood shot look), I don't think I was too much of a burden on Denin, and overall, it was not as bad as I was expecting. Going back to work was no fun, but that had nothing to do with the recovery, just work in general!

Wait... I lied!

Okay, so I did my Pirate Island research after I created my post - they are building a Pirate Island close to me, in Layton. Yippee! The pizza is slightly better than Chuck E. Cheese (which is absolutely gross in my opinion), but still fails to compare to Peter Piper Pizza. Here is the link, so check it out! www.pirateislandpizza.com

I can't wait for it to open! Plus they sold a tank top there that said "Wench" - I should have bought it, but I didn't (unfortunately, that is all to common for me), but I will have a second chance :)

What's new!

T-ball is in full swing (ha ha - get it..). Kole has a game every Tuesday and Thursday, and is doing much better this year than last year! Of course, he still is 5, although he runs faster, throws farther, and hits better, his attention span is about the same! I think T-ball is a little too slow moving for Kole - too much waiting and not enough moving!
But - he loves it, look at his cheesy grin as he runs!
Last weekend we took the boys to St. George - it was our first road trip with them... we all survived! Thanks to the DVD player and snacks, the boys handled the trip with a minimal amount of "when are we going to get there!"Denin's grandparents live in a suburb of St. George - the boys were so excited to see GG and G-pa (much easier to say than great grandma and grandpa, wouldn't you agree?). We didn't do much but visit and take the boys swimming. On Saturday we went to an awesome kids pizza place for lunch - think pirate themed Chuck E. Cheese, it was way cool! The place was called Pirate Island, I was told they were building one in the Provo/Orem area, not very close to us, but much closer than St. George!
And the other big kid...
...yes I realize it isn't a very becoming picture of me (and yes I have my hair extensions back!)
The boys with GG & G-Pa

On another note, Friday is the day, the "girls" are getting installed. I am trying to remind myself why I decided to do this - I don't have second thoughts, but I am nervous! So, even though I've been slacking on my posts lately, at least now I will have an excuse!!!
