My Squishy Peanut cannot exist without including Jyllian, so I'm moving my blog to a new address!  You can find my new blog by clicking here (SquishyPeanutGirl).  I didn't go away, just moved to keep up with the times!

See you at the new blog!

The Family

Since I'm catching up - what's one more post?!  Who knows when the next one will be!  I had to show off my family - I love 'em!

Fathers Day
Posted by Picasa

2 weeks old

In the time it has taken me to post this, Jyllian is a day away from being 3 weeks old...  It was a busy week/weekend and I'm a slacker!  Kamden turned 4 Saturday, so we had his party at our house, Sunday was Father's Day - we spent our day visiting 3 dads, Monday Jyllian had her 2 week appointment, Tuesday Kamden had his 4 year old checkup and it was my Mom's birthday - whew!  The rest of the days of this week have been spent making Jyllian happy.  Jyllian loves to be held - even the pediatrician noticed this at her appointment.  I can lay her on the couch, or put her in the swing, or in her bouncer, but she is happiest and sleeps longest with me, in my arms.  I think she could sleep most of the night if she was in my arms, however, sleeping sitting up is not comfortable, and not something I want her getting used to!  It appears she is already spoiled and knows what she likes!  She isn't partial to me, any set of arms will do, except when she is hungry!  So far we appear to be colic free, but I will not declare it so until we hit the month mark...

I gave Jyllian her first "real" bath on Tuesday - once we got the water level right, she just lounged and enjoyed it!  Look at those cheeks - the only chubby part on her!

2 week stats:
     Length - 20.75 inches (60%) - she's grown .25 inches since birth
Weight - 8 pounds 1 ounce (45%) - gained 9 ounces since leaving the hospital
     Head - 36.6 cm (65%)

She's growing like she should!  I waited 9 months for her to be born, now I don't want her to grow up!!!

Birthday Boy!

My baby boy turned four on Saturday the 19th - I can't believe it!  It doesn't seem that long ago that me and Denin would have him in our arms bouncing on an exercise ball to keep the kid from crying!  Kamden amazes me everyday...  He is sweet and shy (until he gets to know you - then he will talk your ear off), but he is all boy - he loves to play outside, he seems to be naturally athletic, can be fearless, but will be a chicken until he tries it, and has an infectious personality.   He loves cars, superheros, and sports.

Happy 4th Birthday Peanut!!!

Tuesday he went to the doctor for his 4 year old checkup - he's healthy and huge!  Of course, I knew he was big, but the numbers confirm it:
                          Height - 42 & 7/8 inches (94%)
                         Weight - 41.8 pounds (85%)
Head - not given, but it is larger than Kole's!
He's the size of a 5 year old!  Denin and I aren't giants - so how is it that our boys are so big?!

Play Ball!

This year we put Kole in machine pitch baseball in hopes it would hold his attention better than t-ball - I couldn't handle another season of Kole digging for bugs in the grass!  He still had his moments of looking at the airplanes flying by, screaming back and forth with his teammates, and just not paying attention in general, but he had fun!  Kole would get so excited to hit the ball and not strike out, it didn't happen every time, but he did great!

1 Week Old!

I can't believe Jyllian is a week old already! It's gone by so fast, but yet it seems like it has been a looooooong week - I guess sleep deprivation has a way of making you feel like that! She's been a pretty good baby, but then again, all we do at this point is eat, sleep, poop, and cry. So far her crying is consolable, keep your fingers crossed that in the next week the curse of the angry Peterson doesn't rear it's ugly head (COLIC)! Below are the most recent pictures - she's so sweet!

The boys' still love her. They constantly want to hug her and kiss her, sweet, but it is always when she is asleep! It seems like we are always telling them to be quiet - we never realized how loud they were, but now with a sleeping baby, they are having to learn to use their "inside voices!" I'm worried that the novelty of Jyllian will soon wear off, she will no longer be cute to them, and she will become another reason why they get in trouble - hopefully that doesn't happen!  For now they are my big noisy, helpers - willing to do everything but diaper duty!!!!

My babies

There has been a bit of debate who Jyllian looks like - now you can decide for yourself!

Both Jyllian and Kole have stork bites and darker hair, Jyllian and Kamden weighed within an ounce of each other.  She has a different mouth and chin, but I'm sure she will have the same big blue eyes!  One thing I hope that makes her completely different from her brothers is a lack of colic - keep your fingers crossed!!!

And baby makes 5!

Our baby girl finally made her appearance on June 5th.  She was born at 7:19am, weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.  She was born on what would have been my grandpa's 100th birthday and is named after her grandmas - Jyllian Lori Peterson.  I think she is beautiful and perfect!

She was the most difficult of the 3 coming in to the world.  I was scheduled to be induced at 8pm on 6/4, they couldn't start the drugs until after my doctor came in and broke my water because they couldn't monitor her for 20 minutes - she moved around too much!  They put an internal monitor on her head and we were good to go!  I lasted maybe an hour and a half before I got my epidural, I'm a weenie, but why tough it out?!  Of course, she had to remain difficult through the night.  Her heart rate would drop so we would have to have me move positions, luckily that did the trick.  A little before 5:00am I was ready to push.  Yes - that was over two hours of pushing. Although my labor wasn't all that long, it was long for me, but in the end I got my beautiful little girl.

The boys are absolutely fascinated with their new baby sister.  They love to give her kisses and tickle her - although cute, they aren't the most gentle (but they try).  They are also very curious.  They were amazed by her umbilical cord, and each had to investigate their belly buttons.  Kole asked my mom if she saw Jyllian come out of my tummy, that discussion ended up with Kole admitting he thought she came out of my bum crack - we will leave that one be, for now.  Kamden is curious by all her small parts - small eyes, nose, bum, etc.  He noticed her "parts" were different than his, he thinks her "parts" still have to come out...  We have had many interesting conversations, and she is only 3 days old!  They will be great big brothers!

D-day!

Today's the day!  I am so glad to get this baby out - I'm huge, my ankles are huge and daily life is full of unnecessary grunts and groans!  I get induced 8pm tonight!  I cannot believe she insisted on "baking" this long!  I really believe she heard her brothers on the outside and said "you can't make me go out there!"  They scare me at times , she's a smart girl!  :)  They boys know they are going to have a baby sister, but they still have no idea what they are truly in for...  They will be great big brothers to her, but 3 kids is very intimidating!

So crafty, it scares me :)

The craft bug has bit me - in my not so spare time I have been working on projects for the baby's room and around the house.  I made a hair bow holder (top right),  pictures for the powder room (top middle and right middle), adding some home made touches to the lamp shade, working on an afghan, crocheting around blankets, the flowers I didn't make, but they are new to the baby's room, and...

Kindergarten Graduation

I can't believe my oldest graduated from kindergarten tonight!  Where did the time go????  His graduation ceremony was so cute, and he looked so handsome!  I was an emotional wreck (of course), and it was only kindergarten...
Kole, one of his teachers, and Kamden

Congatulations Kole!  We made it through the first year, only 12 more (at least) to go!!!!

Who is that boy?!

This was the equivalent of "baby's first haircut" - cutting Kamden's hair was something I hated to do, but Denin and I knew it was time.... Kam, hated his hair! Every time we would take Kole for a hair cut he would ask if he could get his cut, and anytime I would ask him if he wanted his hair short it was always a yes, "like Kole's." He told my mom he was tired of moving it out of his eyes when she picked him up from school to meet me at the salon yesterday. He finally got his wish:

He looks totally different to me - I like it, not sure if Denin does yet, Kole thought he looked "funny" when he first saw him, but Kamden likes it!
As you can see by the 4am post - this pregnancy thing is really going great!!!!  I sleep terrible, not due to discomfort, I just can't sleep.  I guess it's just nature's way of preparing me for the sleepless nights and nonstop screaming!  Only 3 more weeks!!!!!

2 reasons I love being a mom

I love my boys!  They are such a challenge on most days - but in a picture they can look so innocent and angelic.  I can't believe in less than a month I will be a mom to 3!  Denin and the boys got me a new camera for mothers day - I love it!  Of course I couldn't be the mom that I am with out their dad!

Baby Girl's Room

The baby's room is finally finished, although still missing a few necessities and decorations, we have to bring our baby girl home!  Denin did a great job painting the room - again...  This is the 4th time the room has been painted in the 6 years we've lived in our home!  The crib and changing table were used by the boys, the dresser and the nightstand were once white that we painted pink to go with the room.  I think the room turned out great!

This is one side of her closet - these are just the 0-3 months clothes!!!!  Hey, shopping is what I do best :)

As far as the rest of the pregnancy goes - 6 more weeks to go!!!! Being pregnant with a girl has been very different - way too much estrogen for my sanity!  I am also constantly hot!  Poor Denin has to endure the ceiling fan at night, even when it's 30 degrees and snowing outside - I feel like I should be checking him for frostbite every time I wake up during the night!  I haven't slept well in weeks now, and I have so many contractions during the day, I think she's having a party! Some days I think she will make her appearance before June 5th, other days she seems to be quite content where she is at. Whether she comes tomorrow or in 6 weeks, life will change greatly!  The boys seem to be used to the idea of having a baby sister, although I'm convinced they have NO idea what havoc this little bundle of joy will have on their life!

Cellmates!!!!

Kole and Kamden are now sharing a room - this weekend we finished up their new room.  Denin repainted Kole's "old room" and used the surfer theme from Kamden's room, to make their new room, and Kamden's old room is back to being the nursery.  We got the boys a bunk bed, new bedding, and new decorations to make their room special.  They were so excited to sleep in their new room tonight!  Although fun for them, the new living arrangements have been interesting so far...  For the past week the boys' have been staying in Kamden's room - gone are the days of sending them to their individual rooms when they are fighting, Kamden sleeping in (since Kole is an early bird), and Kole taking naps, but we will all survive!  Here are pictures of the new room:

My 6 year old!

I can't believe Kole is 6 today!  Where does time go????  He started out 5 pounds 11 ounces, and now is 51 pounds!!!!  It is amazing to me how he still looks like he did when he was born - some babies drastically change, but other than getting bigger he still looks the same (and just like his dad)!

Unfortunately Kole is sick today, on his birthday :( dumb germs!  I have 30 cupcakes waiting for him to take to school, hopefully he is better so he can take them tomorrow (even in my pregnant state, cake is not my craving)!  He was so disappointed to not go to school today and celebrate his birthday with his friends, and he was bummed because he had to stay home with me today instead of going to Grammy's - I see where I fall on the totem pole!  Happy Birthday Squish!

Updates on me!

I usually don't post unless I have something funny or interesting to blog about, so for the handful of people that read this and are bored by it - sorry, at least I posted something!
  • I have reached the halfway point, I'm now 22 weeks along, and by the end of February I will have less than 100 days to go.  Wow, that is exciting and scary!
  • At the 20 week ultrasound everything was working like it should!  She weighed 12 ounces and was 9 inches long.
  • I'm on my 2nd sinus infection in 10 weeks, I feel like I have had a cold all winter long.  I cannot wait until spring!
  • I have purchased the bedding for my new baby girl, nothing too girly (of course), but it does have pink!
  • I have done some shopping for her, but nothing too crazy... yet!  If there is one thing I am good at, it is shopping!
  • I have purchased yarn to make her an afghan.  I am terrible at crocheting them.  The first one I made for Kole was gigantic and soooooooo crooked, Kamden's was much better, but it's been 4 years since I last made one - I can't see this ending well!  Yes, both boys love them, but...
  • Baby girl names haven't even been a topic of discussion, I'm too afraid we wont agree on anything!  Of course several people have given us their suggestions, but none are being seriously considered (sorry mom)!  She may be called baby girl forever!
  • I am growing larger everyday, unfortunately I grow everywhere, not just my belly.  I believe I have approached the max weight I should gain, good thing I still have over 4 months to go!!!  Denin was very sweet and got me a treadmill, but I've been so sick, and so tired, I just don't have the energy after work to exercise.
  • I'm already uncomfortable!
  • Baby girl is a Kung Fu fighter, but she likes to play possum when her dad is around - he's felt her kick only a few times!
  • I am tired and wish it was June 5th already!  I cannot wait until my maternity leave, going to work is a challenge some days.
  • The boys are going to be great big brothers!  Today they were talking about their baby sister, giving her things, making things for her.  My only concern is them sharing a room - they may spend most of their childhood in time out!  We are going to move them in together in March so we have plenty of time to repaint the baby's room, and they have time to adjust to their new living arrangements.
See, not much going on, but I guess that isn't a bad thing either!

Cruisin'

(Updated - now you can click on the pictures and see who/what is in the picture!!!!)

We were invited by my brother-in-law and his girlfriend to join them on a cruise - we figured why not?! What could be better than a week away from everything and spending 7 days in the sunshine????? We booked our reservations last summer, at the time I was not pregnant, nor was I planning on being pregnant, but we had fun anyways, and we saved a TON of money since I could not drink!
When we flew into Miami on Friday it was cold - apparently it was the coldest Miami has been in 20 years... Saturday it was raining and cold, we all hope we will sail out of the rain and into blue skies and warm temperatures! Sunday was our first stop at a private island in the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay. It was beautiful, and would had been so much fun, if it wasn't so cold! Denin let me and Michelle bury him in the sand - we of course had to make it inappropriate! Denin was also the only one brave enough to swim in the ocean that day.

Monday was our first day at sea and also formal night - it wasn't very warm on deck, so no chance to work on our tans, but we still spent the day relaxing and napping (something we rarely get to do at home)!

Tuesday our port was St. Thomas, USVI. It was a beautiful place known for it's jewelry shopping, it was also the first day the sun was shining when we woke up!!! We spent the morning shopping and then went to a beach in the afternoon. We were very disappointed in St. Thomas - the beach was not that great, the traffic was horrible, and the taxi drivers were beyond scary! St. Thomas ended up being our least favorite port, when we thought it would be our favorite! If we ever go back, we will definitely take a boat over to St. John!

Wednesday was San Juan, Puerto Rico. We expected this to be our least favorite stop, but it was actually very cool! We looked around the city, did some shopping, and even saw some historical sites. We ate lunch at Senor Frogs (I was just happy to eat something other than cruise ship food) and had a great day. We had another sunny day, and it didn't get cloudy until we were back on the boat!
Thursday was the island of Grand Turk. We had a blast! The day was beautiful, sunny, and warm. We spent the day snorkeling and soaking up the sun! We brought home sea shells and sand dollars that Denin and Jared got off the ocean floor - way cool! That night was also our formal night - although slightly sun burnt, we had a great day!
